Cucumber Water Recipe 5 Ways | Lemon, Lime, Mint & Watermelon

If you’re one of the millions of people that don’t like the taste of water, then this cucumber water recipe is for you. Here are five easy ways to make the recipe.

Two glasses of cucumber water side by side filled with cucumbers, water and ice, and two pink paper straws

Refreshing, hydrating, and super simple to make, infused water is a fantastic way to help you drink more water. It’s not only beautiful, but it adds a fresh flavor to every glass, and you can customize it with whatever fruit or herbs you have. This recipe uses cucumber as a base, with options to add yummy extras like:

  • Cucumber water with lemon
  • Cucumber water with mint
  • Cucumber water with lime

Fresh Ingredients

When it comes to the best cucumber water recipe, you have plenty of options. All start with the same base ingredients:

Water: I use tap water but of course you can use filtered if you prefer. You could also experiment with soda water if that’s your thing!

Ice: You can use as much or as little ice as you like in your cucumber water recipe.

Cucumber: I prefer to use Persian cucumbers because they have a lovely sweet flavor. It’s up to you how much you add – you can get a fair amount of flavor from just a couple of slices! I find that two cucumbers provide the perfect amount of flavor for a nice strong infusion. Experiment until you find your magic number.

Tip: I recommend using organic produce for this cucumber water recipe. The ingredients will be sitting in the water for an extended period of time, so you want to be sure that they aren’t covered with any nasty chemicals.

Cucumber Water with Lemon

Add one sliced lemon alongside the cucumber and ice for a citrus twist.

Cucumber Water with Lime

Switch out the lemon for a sliced lime for a tangy and tropical version.

Cucumber Water with Mint

Mint is a delicious addition to this cucumber water recipe. I use a full sprig, with the leaves torn by hand to release the flavor. You could also experiment with other fresh herbs like dill or basil.

Cucumber Water with Watermelon

Watermelon brings color and sweetness to the mix. One cup of diced fruit is enough for two liters of water. Organic watermelon is great but not essential, as you’re going to remove the skin.

How to Make Infused Water

This cucumber water recipe is so easy – it’s ready in minutes. Add the fresh ingredients at least five minutes before serving. The longer you let it infuse, the stronger the flavor will be. Often I’ll make a pitcher in the morning and then refill it throughout the day as needed. After a couple of times, the cucumber and mint might start to lose their flavor and become soggy. If this happens then just top it up with fresh slices.

Can I Make Infused Water Ahead of Time?

This cucumber water recipe is an ideal make ahead dish. Often I will prepare the lemon, lime, and watermelon at the start of the week so that I have it ready for when I want to use it. Just store it in an airtight container in the fridge. You can prepare the herbs in advance. Just rinse the leaves, dry them completely, and then wrap them in a paper towel in the fridge.
